We have printed millions and millions of pocket testaments in the last 126 years. Every once in a while we receive an inquiry from someone who discovers a very old one. Carol writes to us:
“Hello. In going through my grandparents‘ (both deceased since the 1980s) items, I came upon a Pocket Testament League New Testament little Bible. This Bible was most likely acquired in the early 1900s. My grandfather, was born in the UK on July 31, 1896. Basically I am interested in finding out if this item has any monetary value. Do you happen to know if it does?”
Here was my response to her:

We receive many requests like yours, since we printed millions of those pocket testaments. They end up in all kinds of strange places!
Regarding its monetary value, we see many available online….usually offered at less than £5.00 each… so you have not discovered a gold mine.
What you do have, however, is something of even more value. Your grandparents discovered the truth of the Bible, experiencing true joy on this planet, and eternal life in the next.
When you have time to stop and think about life’s big ideas, I would encourage you read that pocket testament…starting in the Gospel of John…and ask God to reveal Himself to you. You might receive the best gift your grandparents (or anyone else for that matter…) could ever give you.”
What is exciting is that the pocket testament that Carol found, is just as powerful today, as it was 100 years ago.
